Vessels

Dr. Wayne Broadwater is a former Sea Scout whose Ship drifted apart because the unit didn't have a boat of their own. He wanted to give another unit a chance to stay afloat, and that's how we got our first boat, Amanda Grace, a 1982 US Yachts 27 sloop with a single inboard 7 horsepower diesel. After remaining "on the hard" for five years before we got her (and one year after she was ours) and requiring a lot of work, she first floated again on June 25th, 2008. She was anchored at Skipper Doug Yeckley's house in Lusby, MD until she was brought home over Columbus Day weekend in 2008 and is now docked at Washington Sailing Marina.

Gregg and Jean Reynolds donated Seeking Peace, a cutter-rigged MacGregor 23 that is moored at Leesylvania State Park. Her swing keel makes it possible to sail her in the shallow waters of the Potomac River without becoming stuck on the sandy bottom.

The Woodbridge location of the Carefree Boat Club donated Takin' it Breezy, a Catalina 22 that is also equipped with a swing keel.

Dr. Arnold Willis of Alexandria, VA donated Janie Marie, a Catalina 22.
